Open Source Music

Open source music is the concept of releasing music onto Git.
By doing so, artists have a new way to collaborate with others, show the anatomy of their artistic process,
provide lists of samples used and release individual stems.

By doing this, artists are no longer releasing signed to the terms of their record label, but release their work as “open source”;
effectively granting full creative and legal freedom to the artist.

In effect, open source music is a digital graveyard, where all music lives forever.

How it works

As Git is naturally a version control system (VCS), it allows artists to track changes, revert to previous versions, and collaborate seamlessly with others.
This means artists are naturally able to share demos over a period of time, providing a unique way to handle release cycles and share their process.
